"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that He may raise them up and save them." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1499).
Anyone of the faithful age 7 and older who is experiencing suffering from illness or old age, or even who is about to undergo a major surgery, should receive the Anointing of Sick after having prepared oneself through sacramental confession.
For one who is dying, Anointing of the Sick forms an essential part of the Last Rites, which also includes the administering of Viaticum (Holy Communion) if the person is conscious and the prayers of commendation of the dying.
If a person is in need of Anointing of the Sick, please contact our Parish Office at 781-438-0960.
